As the security industry matures we’re beginning to come to terms with the reality that there is no such thing as perfect prevention. Conventional wisdom in information assurance tells us to assemble best-of-breed network and endpoint components into arrays of controls that will provide some reasonable measure of defence in depth.

However, while this might seem like sound advice, it is easier said than done.

Until now unmediated coordination between protection at the physical or virtual network layer and the endpoints that make up those networks hasn’t been possible. As a result security professionals pay a price for this every day, missing cues that might have prevented or detected an attack, suffering delays in responding to and mitigating a detected threat, or struggling with an abundance of alerts with unknown relevance or outright irrelevance.

What is missing is synchronised security – enabling meaningful and contextual exchange of information between endpoint and network protections.  On 29th June 2017,  Core to Cloud and Sophos hosted a Synchronised Security Event at Sophos headquarters in Abingdon.

The event covered:

  • The benefits of synchronised security as well as a detailed demonstration to show how it works
  • Matt Cooke and Jon Hope from Sophos also talked through the customer benefits of synchronised security, running through Sophos endpoint, network and central solutions.

Who attended?

The event was attended by a number of IT professionals responsible for security, remediating  breaches and protecting against ever growing threats.

Make sure you keep an eye out here for future events we are running with Sophos.
