When asked about the challenges the NHS
Blackpool faced, the trust expressed that they
were concerned that their current cybersecurity
offering was not capable of repelling modern day
threats. Coupled with a lack of knowledge and
education around good cyber hygiene, the trust
felt concerned that human error might leave them
vulnerable.
Visibility was cited as one of the main obstacles for the trust.
Being unable to actively see the potential threats within the
network, they felt entirely unable to avoid them.
Secondly, legacy systems and staff that were unwilling to
adapt or distrusting of new systems compounded the issue.
NHS Blackpool needed to find a solution that was easy to
use, quick to implement and wouldn’t cause widespread
disruption to time-stretched staff. Acceptance of any new
software was a key metric.
